Thinking about President Obama’s speech and what it means. While I was listening, I began to think about all the service men & women that will be sent to Afghanistan. 30,000 more troop at the first of the year. That’s a lot of lives being affected. I am so proud of our service men & women, their dedication, sacrifices, and commitment to the cause. I believe we need to do something. I’m just not convinced the way we are going about it will accomplish the goals intended. I think it should be a winnable battle not a continuous forever endeavor. There has to be an end just as there was a beginning. I’m not sure of the answer but it is a troubling situation. God bless our troops & families?
Just today, we sent Nate’s beanie babies to our troops in Baghdad for the soldiers to give to the kids in the villages as they travel through the area. This helps build relations with the locals and also can save lives. There is a organization called Beanies for Baghdad. Look them up on the internet. It is a wonderful cause. We took our beanies and match box cars and put them in a flat rate box. We sent both boxes for around $25 dollars. I hope the beanies can bring some joy to kids face and give a serviceman the feeling of doing something good. Hey! Who wouldn’t like a beanie baby? Everyone thinks they are cool. If you are interested in doing the same thing just let me know or look it up on the internet. They have pictures and all the information you need to send a box. It could be a great mission project for RA’s ,GA’s , Sunday school class or for a family. Over the years we have collected quite a few and the beanies were in excellent condition so it just seems right to send them to someone who could do some good with them.
